I went to Jason Mraz's concert and took a few good pictures:

Yann Tiersen en Cuivre!

Certains de mes dessins ont été adaptés en cuivre para Alberto et Ivan Navarette, deux artistes Chiliens (père et fils) de la Place des Armes à Santiago. Ils disent qu'ils vont en faire d'autre copies et essayer de les vendre!!!

Some of my drawings were adapted in copper by Alberto and Ivan Navarette, two Chilean artists (father and son) from the "Plaza de Armas" in Santiago. They say that they will make some other copies and try to sell them!!!

J'ai dessiné la pièce ci-dessus le jour du concert de Yann Tiersen à Santiago: la tête est supposé être la mienne, et la scène avec le piano représente mon anticipation du concert. Je pensais demander à Yann Tiersen de signer un autographe sur le dessin, ou lui donner le dessin, mais il y avait bien trop de monde autour de la scène, j'ai fini par gardé le dessin pour moi-même :)

I drew the drawing above in anticipation of Yann Tiersen's concert: the head is supposed to be mine, and the stage with the piano representing my anticipation of the concert. At some point I thought that I might get him to autograph it, or give it to him, but there were too many people pressing around the scene, so I ended up keeping the drawing for myself :)

J'ai dessiné celui ci-dessus après le concert. Chaque animal est supposé carricaturer le musicien d'après son comportement sur scène, et Yann Tiersen est representé par un Kokopeli, rayonnant sur ses musiciens et les spectateurs.

I drew the one above after the concert. Each animal is supposed to carricature the musicians according the behavior they showed on the scene, and Yann Tiersen is represented by a Kokopeli, shining on his musicians and the spectators.

I went to the concert (a bit sick and very tired, but it was worth it) and loved it, especially the slow version of "summertime" with an amazing sound, and all the bits of armonica on other pieces. Makes me want to play again!

"The Wall", by Roger Waters

Last Friday I went to the concert "The Wall by Roger Waters" with three friends: we were blown. Two of my friends had never seen the movie and they liked it too. It is a completely new show, building up and deepening the themes of the original. The set is huge, with many effects for your distractions, and the music is at once true to the original and revisiting it in interesting ways.

The original version was already about rebellion against authority, but this new version revisits and extends the notion, pushing against extremism of all kinds, let it be religious (Christian crosses join Islamic crescents and Jewish stars) or economic (logos of companies such as Mercedes, Shell, etc..), against submission, against surveillance. Roger Water talked about the conflicts in Chile, expressing his support for the rebellion, and during the intermission, pictures and short biographies of hundreds of martyrs were displayed, from Gandhi to Allende and other less known from Columbia, Iran and other countries.

I won't tell you more so that I don't spoil the pleasure of being surprised by Roger Water's many tricks: just go if you get the chance!

J'étais trop occupé à écouter pour prendre beaucoup de photos, mais c'était super!

Yann Tiersen's concert

Au debut, j'ai appris que Yann Tiersen jouait a Mexico, un jour apres que j'ai quitte Mexico. Ensuite, j'ai appris qu'il jouait a Buenos Aires, mais les tickets etaient deja tous vendus. Puis il devait jouer a Conception, la ville detruite par le tsunami en Fevrier. Quand J'ai appris qu'il jouait a Santiago, j'ai achete deux billets illico!	At first I learned that Yann Tiersen was playing in Mexico, one day after I was leaving Mexico. Then I learned that he was playing in Buenos Aires, but the tickets were outsold. Then he was planning to play in Conception, the city destroyed by the tsunami in February. When I learned that he was playing in Santiago, I bought two tickets illico!
J'ai invite une amie a venir avec moi. En plus d'etre scientifique (et danceuse pleine de grace), elle est violoniste, violoncelliste, guitariste et chanteuse: un peu comme Yann Tiersen lui-meme :)	I invited a friend to come with me. In addition of being a scientist (and a delightful dancer), she is violonist, cellist, guitarist and singer: a bit like Yan Tiersen himself :)
Il y avait une premiere partie Chilienne, deux guitarres, une basse et un batteur. Les voix et les melodies etaient tres bonnes, et le batteur tres doux, presque comme un batteur de Jazz: On a beaucoup aime, mais ils n'ont pas dit leur nom!!!	There was a Chilean first part, two guitars, a bass and a drummer. The voices and melodies were very good, and the drummer very soft, almost like a jazz player: We liked them very much, but they did not say their name!!!

Le concert etait franchement rock, avec solos de guitarre electrique et Kazoo, et quelques instruments plus experimentaux, comme les claviers a vent. Quelques versions rock un peu dejantees de vielle melodies lentes (La Rupture, La Valse des Monstres,...) que j'ai adorees, quelques nouvelles melodies et chansons en anglais, un solo de violon: tout le monde en voulait encore!	The concert was frankly rock, with solos of electric guitars and kazoo, and some instruments more experimental, like the wind keyboards. Some crazy rock versions of old slow songs (La Rupture, La Valse des Monstres....) that I loved, some new melodies and new songs in English, a solo of violin: everybody wanted more!
J'ai lance quelques sequences ou on applaudit tous en rythme, quelques rires, les vieux reflexes sont encore la, sous controle. Maintenant je veux voyager, aller en Europe le mois prochain, au Chad en Janvier ou Fevrier. Je vais ecouter a quoi ressemble la musique la-bas!	I launched some clapping in rhythm, some laughs, the old touch is still there, if under control. Now I wanna travel, go to Europe next month, go to Chad in January or February. I will listen what's the music's like over there!
